• Performs job functions consistent with the corporate vision and mission statements and the core values of the organization • Assists in housekeeping duties by: - Making the beds ensuring that they are provided with clean linens and pillows - Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the patient unit at all times; Cleaning beds, bedside tables, counters, cabinets and bedside chairs; emptying the bedpan; - Filling up drinking bottles at the bedside tables; washing glasses and spoons of bed- patients; - Ensuring the correct count of articles in the room as endorsed by the outgoing aide, and upon discharge of the patient and - Arranging for the removal of all used or discontinued equipment from patients areas; putting off equipment no longer in use. • Participates in morning rounds with ward nurses to know required basic nursing care to be provided; • Provides basic nursing care to patients by way of - Assisting ambulatory patients in bathing and providing total bathing in bed for non - ambulatory patients - Assisting in feeding patients who cannot eat by themselves - Performing simple treatment like perineal care; SS enema; - Assisting in dressing wounds as directed; - Measuring fluid intake and output and taking and charting vital signs when so delegated; • Prepares consumable nursing care supplies such as cotton balls, applicators, gauze, etc; undertakes sterilization, disinfection of supplies and instruments as needed; • Assists in preparing patients for procedures: - Monitoring maternity patients in labor; - Shaving patients for surgery; - Escorting patients to other medical departments at which procedures will be undertaken and - Providing post-mortem care; • Provides specimen vials, collects urine and stool specimen, and sends them to the laboratory for examination; • Participates in responding to code 911 (emergency) calls within the hospital. • Acts as message relay conduct between the patient and his/her family and the concerned hospital officers or employees, • Undertakes internal errands and coordinative activities related to administrative requirements of the nurses' station; • Prepares weekly planner on activities to be undertaken and prepares reports on actual results, outputs and accomplishment reports into monthly performance reports; • Undertakes work activities in conformity with the institutional guidelines on safety and infection control; • Attends training programs and learning sessions for the enhancement of professional, technical, and personal proficiencies. • Performs such other duties and responsibilities analogous, germane or related to and/or implied from the above enumeration of duties and responsibilities.
